The project aims to increase the income of men and women in the centers of Qena, Waqf, and Naga Hammadi in Qena, and the centers of Esna and Arment in Luxor, through:

• Granting some beneficiaries loans averaging 12,000 EGP, with a low interest rate of 18%, over a fixed repayment period of 12 months.
• Granting some beneficiaries loans averaging 12,000 EGP, with a low interest rate of 18%, over a flexible repayment period of 12 months.
• Granting some beneficiaries loans averaging 12,000 EGP, with a low interest rate of 18% over a repayment period of 12 months (with an asset guarantee).
• Granting a group of beneficiaries a cash grant of 12,000 EGP.

An impact study is being conducted to measure the feasibility of expanding the loans and grants for small enterprises. A control group shall be present and will not receive grants or loans. This study is conducted in collaboration with J-PAL MENA.
