Sawiris Distinction Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Sawiris Foundation for Social Development offers 10 scholarships for General High School (Thanawya Amma) disabled students or an equivalent degree across the republic. The scholarships allow students to enroll in prestigious universities within the Arab Republic of Egypt and obtain a bachelor’s degree. It offers a free, high-quality, and exceptional educational environment to enhance students skills and opportunities to enter the job market after graduation.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • It covers tuition fees and living allowance
  • Textbooks, laboratory equipment, and a laptop
  • Accommodation for students from other governorates at the university dorms (if applicable)
  • Necessary inclusive learning tools (to be assessed according to the case and the specialists recommendations)

Fields of Study:

The applicant must select one of the partner universities, as well as the field of study. All fields available to students with disabilities are covered by the scholarship.

Scholarship Duration:

To be identified depending on the major

Criteria:

  • Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt (preference will not be given to dual nationality holders)
  • Recent graduates from high school (Thanaweya Amma) or its equivalents with a minimum score of 75%
  • Applicants must obtain an acceptance proof from the university and submit the admission papers
  • Submit a certified medical proof of the disability, its stage, and the integrated services card (if applicable)
  • The scholarship is awarded depending on the financial needs and proven eligibility demonstrated through academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and social behavior
  • Enrolled applicants are obliged to work within the Arab Republic of Egypt for 3 years post-graduation.

Required Documents:

  • Personal photo
  • A copy of your birth certificate.
  • A copy of your national ID.
  • A copy of your guardians national ID (noting that your guardian will sign the scholarship contract).
  • Disability proof certificate or report from an accredited government agency.
  • Initial acceptance letter from the university you wish to enroll in through the scholarship
  • A recommendation letter from one of your school teachers.
  • A copy of certificates of academic excellence, training courses, and community activities, if any.
  • A copy of your English language proficiency test if applicable for an English academic program
  • Copy of integrated service card for people with disabilities (if applicable).
  • Takaful and Karama program proof (if applicable).
  • Parental consent to join the scholarship

Important Instructions:

The applicant must to have already applied to the desired university and have met all the requirements. Admission into the Sawiris Distinction Scholarship for Students with Disabilities does not guarantee university admission.
