Best Playwriting

Award conditions:

      1. Applicants must be Egyptian citizens.
      2. The submitted work must not have been professionally performed on stage.
      3. A PDF version of the dramatic treatment, not exceeding 5 pages, must be submitted along with the plat script .
      4. For works adapted from literary texts in the screenplay and Playwriting awards, the original literary work must be an Egyptian text. The submission must include written consent from the original author for the adaptation.
      5. Each author may submit only one work and apply for only one category of the award.
      6. Submitted works must not have previously won any other Egyptian, Arab, or international awards.
      7. The same work cannot be submitted to another competition during the same period.
      8. Authors must guarantee that the submitted work is their original creation, not plagiarized or written using artificial intelligence. Submitted works will be examined using specialized programs to ensure originality.
      9. Submissions are accepted from individuals, as well as cultural organizations, universities, and institutions.
      10. The relevant committees reserve the right to withhold the award in any category without providing reasons or to withdraw it after granting if deemed necessary.
      11. In the case of an exceptionally distinguished work, the award’s board of trustees may decide to translate the work into other languages.
      12. There is no age restriction for applicants.

How to Apply for the Twentieth Cycle:

      1. Interested applicants must complete the electronic application form and attach all required documents.
      2. Submit 5 copies of the work for any award category.
      3. For the Best Screenplay or Best Play Text awards, submit 5 printed and bound copies of the work along with 5 copies of the dramatic treatment.
      4. The copies and the signed application form should be delivered in person or by mail to the Sawiris Foundation headquarters at the following address: 10 Al-Diwan Street, off Nile Corniche, Garden City, Cairo. Submissions are accepted daily from 10 AM to 2 PM, except on Fridays, Saturdays, and official holidays.

Submission Deadline: Thursday, July 25, 2024. Applications and works received after this date will not be considered.
