Sawiris Arts and Culture Scholarship (SACS)

A long awaited opportunity for future artists seeking quality education (Bachelor, Master) to enrich their talents in the vast field of the arts and culture. The Sawiris Arts & Culture Scholarship program targets highly motivated, talented and socially engaged applicants, who are aware of the important role art plays in a flourishing and developing society. It aims at fostering these talents until they themselves are effective artists in the scene, who in return enrich their country and society with their acquired knowledge in their designated fields.

Sawiris Foundation has always prided itself with ensuring quality education both traditional and nontraditional accessible to everyone. One of our goals is to ensure all students have an accessible and inclusive environment to learn.

Performing Arts: This field includes - but not limited to - Music, Singing, Theatre, Drama, Dance, Musical Theatre, Folklore, Acting, Directing, and Play Writing
Visual Arts: This field includes -  but not limited to - Fine Arts, Sculpture, Design (including Graphic Design, Costume Design, Product Design, Light Design), Fashion Design, Photography, Video Art
Film Studies: This field includes -  but not limited to - Filmmaking, Script Writing, Film Production, Directing

  • To be an Egyptian national residing in Egypt (preference will not be given to dual nationality holders).

  • Unconditional admission in one of the approved universities in your targeted field for a bachelor’s or a master’s degree

  • Demonstrated social and community engagement.


  1. Receive your admission letter alongside expected program tuition fees from one of the approved universities in one of the previously mentioned fields.

  2. Submit the SFSD application with the required documents. Scholarship application form including all required documents can be downloaded from HERE

  3. Send your application to Sawiris Foundation through email on, mentioning in the subject line: “Final Application_your full name”.

An external selection committee, consisting of prominent experts in the field of arts and culture in addition to representatives from Sawiris Foundation for Social Development.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, learning materials, living allowance, travel expenses, and health insurance.


  • Up to 4 years for bachelor’s degree
  • Up to 2 years for master’s degree


  • Scholarship official announcement  and receiving applications: From 1st of February to June 5th at 11:59pm, 2020

  • Review of applications and interviews with shortlisted candidates: May and June, 2020

  • Announcing the scholarship awardees: June, 2020

  • Signing contracts and finalizing scholarship awarding procedures: June 2020

  • Beginning of the Academic Year: September/October, 2020
