Sterilization of vital institutions in Egypt, foremost of which is the Egypt Railway Station

Within the framework of the Sawiris initiative to support the fight against the Coronavirus, and under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development has been keen to actively contribute to the implementation and activation of health protection plans by supporting the efforts of the Egyptian Red Crescent in sterilizing vital institutions and facilities in the country. This measure is considered one of the most important preventive measures to ensure the safety of citizens and limit the spread of the Coronavirus.

Deatails of the Inititive

Within the framework of the Sawiris initiative to support the fight against the Coronavirus, the Egyptian Red Crescent teams sterilized all the sidewalks and train cars, which amounted to 312 vehicles, other than the station lobby, and all administrative offices, with a total area of 6000 square meters. The Red Crescent and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development also cooperated in distributing 800 personal hygiene kits to the affected families in the villages under domestic isolation in the governorates of Giza, Menoufia and Al Gharbeya. In another context of interventions, basic services have been provided and food and medicine are provided to community members in 7 areas affected by the outbreak of the epidemic and under domestic isolation. The Egyptian Red Crescent, in cooperation with the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, continues the humanitarian work it provides to the community in light of the increase in the number of injured and the outbreak of the epidemic, and works to spread health awareness and correct behaviors in order to preserve members of society.

Other activities achieved by the ERC:

  • Distribution of 100 first aid bags to 100 nursing homes, as well as sterilization and disinfection for 100 educational and care homes.
  • Completion of the distribution of 3150 personal hygiene bags in the governorates of: Cairo, Gharbia, Menoufia, Qalyubia, Alexandria, Ismailia, Beni Suef, Minya, Marsa Matrouh, Aswan, Red Sea, Dakahlia and Kafr El Sheikh.
  • Distribution of 40,298 food baskets for individuals under medical isolation areas.
  • Spreading health awareness messages through electronic platforms and conducting awareness campaigns during the distribution of disinfection and sterilization materials.
  • Providing psychological support services via phone and electronic platforms, and answering various inquiries related to the disease for 660 beneficiaries, by providing guidance related to confronting fear and panic, developing coping skills with psychological stress, as well as self-care.
  • The total number of volunteers who participated in providing services related to the Sawiris initiative: 11426 volunteers during all interventions.
  • 81 tasks were undertaken to organize the ranks of the beneficiaries of the pension service in all governorates of the Republic, by 16,000 beneficiaries
  • Equipping a hospital for medical isolation in South Sinai and Fayoum with the necessary medical tools and devices.
