Main Job Purpose:

The PR & Communications Officer is expected to contribute to increasing visibility, awareness, understanding, and support of the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development (SFSD) mandate, vision, objectives, activities, and programs by developing digital/social media strategies, guidelines, procedures, and tools to provide high coverage of SFSD projects.

The PR & Communications Officer will co-manage all SFSD’s digital/social media accounts and regularly collaborate with colleagues across the sectors, generating and publishing ongoing content, optimizing SFSD’s presence on various platforms, analyzing social media data (practices and trends), and fostering community interaction. This will include developing and implementing marketing campaigns, providing on-spot digital/social media coverage for SFSD projects and events, responding appropriately to inquiries, and identifying issues that require escalation.


Overall Accountabilities:

  • Works with the Sector Director to actively support the effective implementation of Digital/Social Media Strategy in close collaboration with key actors from other sectors and partners.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Contribute with inputs to the sector action plans and progress reports in alignment with the sector OKRs and SFSD strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement social media monthly action plans and calendars in order to achieve specific marketing objectives & goals.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the marketing plans and digital/social media campaigns (organic and paid) from the concept note to the delivery, according to the assigned objectives and internal regulations.
  • Create and curate engaging content, including images, videos, and written posts, for daily posting on social media channels.
  • Develop and implement digital/social media strategies to increase brand visibility and engagement across various platforms.
  • Provide media coverage for SFSD and attend all related events to ensure proper and positive media coverage on platforms, press, media, and social media.
  • Clearly communicate ideas to designers and follow up directly to come up with creative and effective visuals
  • Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner, ensuring positive interaction with followers.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in digital/social media marketing using various analytics tools.
  • Provide reports on key metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Analyze social media metrics to evaluate content performance and make data-driven recommendations to optimize content strategies.
  • Assist with the preparation and production of communication materials, including blogs, brochures, newsletters, publications & other collateral material as needed.
  • Negotiate with agencies and service providers for the best offers and make recommendations for the optimal selection according to the approved budget and SFSD internal regulations.
  • Update the SFSD website on a regular basis with news, events, publications, and other content types.
  • Maintain the up-to-date electronic format of publications and archives and provide timely support to staff in accessing needed information from these archives.
  • Conduct field visits when needed.

Collaborate with other Sectors:

  • Collaborate with other sectors, implementing NGOs, partners, stakeholders, etc., to coordinate actions.
  • Handle the internal memos, travel requests, and draft contracts of the service providers as per the assigned projects to be approved by the PR & Communications Director and in alignment with the department budget and SFSD internal regulations.

Networking and Communication:

  • Establish and maintain sustainable and effective relationships with media representatives, influencers, and marketing agencies.
  • Review the content and the promotional materials provided by the NGOs, partners, and other stakeholders that are relevant to social media work.
  • Represent the sector at formal conferences and meetings with partners in coordination with the Sector Director.

  • External Relationships: Media representatives, influencers, media and marketing agencies, Local and international NGOs, –External partners.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Media Design, Digital Media, Literature, Fine Arts, or any other related field.

Experience

  • 4-6 years of experience.

Computer Skills

Excellent knowledge of :

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Social media analytics tools to track and analyze performance metrics
  • Content management systems (WordPress)
  • Email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, etc.)

Basic graphic design skills

Languages

  • Arabic: Native
  • English: Fluent
  • Working competence in translation of documents from Arabic to English and vice versa

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation, and high writing skills in English and Arabic is a must.
  • Demonstrated expertise in social media content creation and management, with a track record of producing high-quality content that drives engagement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using social media management & analyzing tools.
  • Strong experience in managing social media campaigns and advertising on platforms such as Facebook Ads Manager is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience in web editing is required.
  • Advanced Translation skills is required.
  • Experience in working in the humanitarian or development sector is an advantage.
