Welcome Day for New Students in TU Berlin - Campus El Gouna, for the Academic year 2016 / 2017
On Saturday October 15th, TU Berlin Campus El Gouna held the Official Opening ceremony of the academic year 2016/2017, in the presence of all the campus academic and administrative staff and many distinguished guests. The event was also attended by representatives of several prominent higher education institutions including; The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Scientific Attaché and Cultural Counselor of the German Embassy in Cairo, as well as representatives of some of the sponsoring donors.
The goals of the Student Welcome Day was to introduce to the new students the academic resources and opportunities to support their academic endeavors, engage them with campus and university history and connect the newcomers with the campus-wide resources, facilities and services.
The keynote speech was given by Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel, TUB Vice President for International Relations and Teacher Educatio. Prof. Ittel expressed her pleasure to welcome the new students of different nationalities, who are seeking to find a scientific and practical solutions to the major challenges facing the region through studying for the TUB Master’s degree programs in Urban Development, Water Engineering, Energy Engineering, Business Engineering Energy and Information Technology for Energy.
Words of welcome were also extended by Prof. Dr. Matthias Barjenbruch, Dean of Campus El Gouna, Eng. Samih Sawiris, Orascom Development Holding Chairman, Eng. Noura Selim, SFSD Executive Director and Major General Ahmed Abdallah, Red Sea Governor, who welcomed the new scholars to Campus El Gouna - TU Berlin, and encouraged them to get the most out of their university experience by taking chances, trying new things and not holding back.
On the sidelines of the reception, Eng. Noura Selim, met with the recipients of the SFSD new scholarship for Syrian refugees at Campus El Gouna - TU Berlin. The meeting was also attended by the German Embassy in Cairo and DAAD Cairo who co-fund the program as well as UNHCR and TUB.
Founded in 2012, in partnership with Orascom Hotels & Development (OHD), Campus El Gouna - TU Berlin is one of the most important institutions that contribute to strengthening the relations and scientific partnerships between Egypt and Germany through joint research projects and master's programs, which focus on the combination of professional and educational experiences in the relevant fields.

Campus El Gouna - TU Berlin is pretty crowded at the moment. Students, conferences are back. Few days ago it was the semester opening ceremony. El Gouna TV was there and met with founders and officials to know more about what "TUB" is about.
