SFSD Participates in netFWD Meeting
“Catalytic Philanthropy in Africa Harnessing Foundations' Potential to Achieve the SDG’s”
SFSD participated in the Network of Foundations working for Development (netFWD) meeting that took place in 28 September 2016, at the OECD Headquarters in Paris, aimed at discussing the role of “African philanthropy in support of the 2030 Agenda: trends and opportunities.”
Eng. Noura Selim, the Executive Director of Sawiris Foundation, shared Sawiris Foundation’s experience in North Africa and discussed how the political dynamics in North Africa have impacted the philanthropic sector and the Sawiris Foundation in particular, and how foundations can maximize their impact in this context. The panel also included representatives from Ford Foundation and UNDP.
netFWD is a global network of foundations committed to optimizing the impact of philanthropy for development. The Network spans 5 continents and brings together foundations and associate organizations from over 15 different countries. Sawiris Foundation has been a member since 2013, and contributes regularly through the annual meetings, sharing best practices with foundations globally.
