New Strategic Partnership Between SFSD, the French Embassy in Egypt and the UN- Women Arab States to Empower Egyptian Women

The signing ceremony took place, on Tuesday, April 19th, at the French Embassy in Cairo. The agreement was signed H.E. Mr. André Parant, the French Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Mohamed Ibrahim Shaker, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of SFSD and Mr. Mohammed Naciri, Regional Director UN-Women Arab States.

 

Within the context of French president, Mr. François Holland's, visit to Egypt, a new strategic partnership agreement was signed between Sawiris Foundation for Social Development; the French Embassy in Egypt and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, to launch the new project “Egyptian Women: Pioneers of the Future".

The signing ceremony took place, on Tuesday, April 19th, at the French Embassy in Cairo. The agreement was signed H.E. Mr. André Parant, the French Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Mohamed Ibrahim Shaker, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of SFSD and Mr. Mohammed Naciri, Regional Director UN-Women Arab States.

The event was also attended by Mrs. Yousriya Loza-Sawiris, SFSD Founder and Secretary General, Eng. Naguib Sawiris, SFSD Vice Chairman & CEO of OTMT, Eng. Noura Selim, SFSD Executive Director, Ms. Rosa Abdel Malek, SFSD Partnerships Manager and Members of the French Parliament.

The partnership, which provides EGP 4.5 Million to implement a pilot vocational training project for 450 Egyptian girls, aims to reach a better integration for women in the economic life and private sector by granting them vocational and life skills training adapted to the needs of the market. The project will provide them also with job opportunities through a network of French and International partner Companies such as L’Oreal, Total, Lafarge, General Electric, etc. The goal is to expand the project to a national level once the pilot demonstrates success.

The project will be implemented by the Association for development and Enhancement of Women (ADEW), in addition to 3 other NGOs; Maadi Youth Training Center, Gozour and Youth with a Vision.
