This microcredit project is focused on Markaz Tala and Markaz EL-Shohada in Menoufia Governorate to provide a way for unemployed young people and female heads of households to improve their livelihoods.
The project helps beneficiaries through training and providing small loans or contributions to establish small businesses as follows:
- Train 30 beneficiaries on the use and maintenance of winches and then provide them with microcredit loans of 8,500 pounds each (LE 2000 as a contribution to the beneficiary + LE 6500 as a loan to be repaid over 30 monthly installments of LE 282).
- Train 52 beneficiaries in sewing and then provide each of them with a sewing machine worth of LE 2,000 as a loan to be repaid on 18 monthly installments of LE 131.
- Train 20 women on hairdressing and then give them upon training completion a tool kit bag that contains the equipment and necessary tools for them to practice their trade in their own business.
- This SFSD-funded project is the third one in cooperation with El-Sadat Association; the first project provided female heads of households with 25 kiosks at the total cost of LE 211050, and the second project provided 74 commercially-licensed tricycles to jobless youth. The tricycle cost LE 7000 and the beneficiary repaid the cost in monthly installments.
