Misr El-Kadima District, Greater Cairo Governorate.
The difficulties in hiring and retaining a sufficient skilled workforce in some industries like leather tanning and pottery, have driven the Foundation and its partner NGO to start this project.
It aims to train 600 beneficiaries on leather tanning and 175 beneficiaries on pottery, using modern techniques for the advancement of these two industries. Trainees are given practical training in specialized workshops located in the poorest district of Misr El-Kadima.
The project also aims to raise the efficiency of 75 entrepreneurs, the owners of the workshops, through training on project management and marketing, in addition to giving them loans to upgrade their workshops and employ the trainees upon their completion of the training. Concurrently, the project will cooperate with the government to facilitate the issuance of licenses for the targeted workshops and promote the products through exhibitions inside and outside Egypt. Moreover, the project extends its support to the trainees in some legal matters such as facilitating the issuance of birth certificates and ID cards.
