This notable project aims to provide literacy instructors for the hearing impaired, implemented by ASDAA Association. With isolation and illiteracy two of the greatest challenges the hearing impaired face, the project focuses on developing a literacy curriculum using sign language, and trains instructors to facilitate it. ASDAA will provide training for 80 university graduates to work as qualified literacy instructors for the hearing impaired (including 14 TOT).
A protocol of cooperation will be signed with the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education to introduce literacy classes for the hearing impaired and employ the graduates of this program to work as teachers. A Manual for the Basics of Arabic Sign Language will be published, along with a series of literacy books using sign language.
