ENID Initiative Extended for 5 Years (2017-2021)
On Tuesday November 15th, 2016, the Ministry of International Cooperation (MoIC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a five-year extension of the Egypt Network for Integrated Development (ENID) initiative. The project extension was signed by H.E. Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of International Cooperation, H.E. Ambassador Said Hindam, Assistant Foreign Minister of International Cooperation for Development and Mr. Mostafa Benlamlih, UNDP Resident Representative. The signing was attended by SFSD’s donating partners including; Eng. Nour Selim, Executive Director of Sawiris Foundation, Ambassador Charlotta Sparre, Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt, Mr. Jorg Schimmel, Deputy Country Director UN Women Egypt, as well as the Project Director Dr. Heba Handoussa and ENID team.
During the meeting, Dr. Heba Handousa, ENID’s Managing Director, outlined the progress and outcomes of the initiative. Additionally, she discussed the new activities and projects planned to be implemented in the five upcoming years (2017-2021).
Dr. Sahar Nasr highlighted the importance of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and their major role in creating job opportunities for young people. She also underscored the importance of building strong partnerships between the government and the NGOs to serve women and offer projects that address social justice, poverty reduction and economic growth.
Eng. Noura Selim further confirmed SFSD’s strong commitment to support the new phase of the ENID initiative to implement its proposed activities, in order to contribute significantly to reducing the unemployment rate, achieving sustainable development, and providing a better life for Egyptian people.
