The Employment Forum & Graduation Ceremony for the 1st. Batch of the Trainees of"Egyptian Women - Pioneers for the Future" Project
Under the theme “Towards the Economic Empowerment of Egyptian Women: Pioneers for the Future”, SFSD witnessed the graduation ceremony and employment forum for the 1st Batch of the project, on Thursday November 10th, 2016. The event brought together representatives of 6 French partner companies including Total, L'Oreal, Saint-Gobain, Credit Agricole Bank, Orange, and Accor Hotels, who conducted face-to-face interviews with the graduate trainees, and provided 34 successful candidates with job opportunities.
The "Egyptian women: pioneers of the future" is a partnership project funded by SFSD, the French Institute in Egypt, UN Women and implemented under the umbrella of the National Council for Women. The project aims to promote the economic empowerment of 360 Egyptian women and integrate them, as active participants, into the labor market through providing them with proper training and job placement in French and international companies in Egypt.
The event was held in the presence of Eng. Noura Selim, SFSD’s Executive Director, who spoke of the role of the project’s implementing NGOs; Gozour Foundation and Maadi Youth Training Center who were supervised by the Association for the Development and Enhancement of Women (ADEW). She also mentioned that SFSD strives to support and to empower the Egyptian women through training and provision of job opportunities.
In his speech during the event, Mr. Mohammed Bu Abdullah, Director of the French Institute in Egypt pointed out that the main objective of the project is the economic empowerment of Egyptian girls within Cairo governorate, by offering integrated packages of professional training to meet the growing demand of the labor market.
May Ali, the Regional Economic Empowerment Adviser, UN Women-Regional Office for Arab States, also praised the commitment and dedication displayed by trainees during their training.
