10th Anniversary Celebration of the SFSD – DAAD Scholarship Program

In her speech during the ceremony Eng. Noura Selim said ”Today, we are celebrating 10 years of a great collaboration between SFSD and DAAD, but what we are really celebrating is that power of education. What we are really celebrating is 10 years of bright young Egyptians who worked hard for their right to a high-quality education...youths who have dreamed big and set out to accomplish their dreams. We are celebrating 10 years of two entities working hand-in-hand to help those students realize their dreams”.

SFSD celebrated 10 years of fruitful cooperation, with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), in the scholarship programme for graduates from the German Schools in Egypt.

The event and the following reception took place on 15th of September 2015, at the premises of the German Embassy, 2 Berlin St, Zamalek.

The celebration included opening statements by H.E. Ambassador Julius Georg Luy, Eng. Samih Sawiris, Chairman of Orascom Development Holdings, Eng. Nora Sulayem, Noura Selim, SFSD Executive Director, and Dr. Roman Luckscheiter, Director of DAAD-Cairo. It also included a musical performance by Dr. Wael Omar Sidqi, memories and Impressions video messages from the Alumni residing in Germany, and interviews with two of the Alumni who returned to Egypt after the completion of their studies at German universities.

Over the past 10 years, SFSD in collaboration with the DAAD, has helped dreams come true for 23 students by sponsoring them towards earning their Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Germany’s most prestigious universities in the fields of  economics, engineering, science, international development ,  business administration, literature and music.

Since its anticipation in 2005 until now, 8 students have obtained their masters degree, while 13 students are now in process of completing their studies at German universities. Going forward, SFSD will continue to support students who have the potential to become positive leaders in servicing their communities. The SFSD is very much looking forward to further cooperating with the DAAD in order to enable young talents from Egypt to pursue their goals and move ahead toward a bright and promising future.
